THE GAME ROOM

Tuesday Nights is the name of our class and The Game Room is where we meet when we are not together.

Got a idea that just can't wait...tell us about it.
You need to hash something out, maybe we can help.
Or maybe you just want to see what everybody else is up to.
Post links, post pictures, post questions or just ask one.

My Philosophy.
I teach through action and immersion. Just keep moving, contemplate later. In art, for me at least, there are times of rest and contemplation, and times of work. Art making is a time for work. It is the time to pull from the mental and make physical. Create a reality, a piece of art. For this the contemplative brain needs to move over, the art critic side isn’t even invited to the party. Learn to ask and answer your own questions on the move. The sooner I can get you making art the better. Get something done and then we have something to talk about.

Man, Monsters and Machines...exhibition

“Tuesday Nights” is an Art Workshop for local creative types, facilitated by Artist Helen Wilson. Each Workshop is built around a project idea. The projects end in an exhibition. Mostly this is a way to advance creative skills while socializing with others of your artistic ilk. Artists have always gathered in Salons, Ateliers or coffee shops to share ideas, technical discoveries and philosophies. The goals of our group are simple. The building of an artistic community through socialization with other artist. (There is something to be said about breathing the air of other creative souls.) Building artistic community through exhibitions. (It’s not about selling; it is about developing artistic energy through sharing with a larger community. Think of it as “A Happening.”)  To develop technical proficiency in a variety of media and/or methods, by planning, designing and completing projects. (Talks important now lets get making.)
The Artists Group Tuesday Nights is inviting Ramona’s Art lovers to an Art Exhibition of works based on Children’s Art. We asked a class of Kindergarteners and 1st graders to draw a person, a monster or a robot. Some described the strangest bug they had ever seen. The artists then picked a child’s piece to re-interpret. The Title of this falls exhibition is Man Monsters and Machines: Playing with children’s Art. The children’s work will be exhibited next to the artist interpretation.
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” We started with this quote from Picasso as our catalyst. The Artists were free to interpret the project however their muses directed, and were free to extend themselves. There was one rule “keep a sense of play.”  There are sneak peeks of some works and the drawings they came from on our blog. http://tuesdaynights-thegameroom.blogspot.com

The exhibitions artists are Tracy Potter, Lark Burkhart, Deborah Behnke, Helen Petre, Ralph Jensen, Cindy Dodson, Antonia Cosentino, Kathe Rothe, Marsha Cook, Kathleen Beck, Lauren Chiara, Nancy Fergusion, Sarah Gutz, Stephanie Hass, Paula Riddle, Paula Beck, Karen James, Pamela Underwood, Sue Ann Daffara, Heidi Schlotfeldt and Helen Wilson.

Within this group are Book Artists, Quilters, Collage Artists, Glass Artists, Painters, Mixed Media Artists, Sculptors, Educators, Expressive Art Therapists, Activists, Environmentalists, Librarians and just plan makers.
